The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO), continued the task of assessing the damages done during the passage of tropical storm Matthew.
Ms. Michelle Forbes, Deputy Director of NEMO, said that reports are continuing to come in from residents in communities across the country but most of the persons who sought refuge in emergency shelters on Wednesday night have returned to their homes.
Ms. Forbes noted that the damage nation-wide was not as extensive as anticipated, and persons residing in vulnerable areas were the ones most severely impacted by the storm.
Meanwhile, the Central Water and Sewerage Authority (CWSA), said that it has restored one hundred percent of the nation’s water supply to customers throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines following the passage of tropical storm Mathew.
Ms. Joan Ryan, Public Relations and Marketing Manager at the CWSA, said that normal water supply was restored following the disruptions which they made to ensure that there was not significant damage to their systems during the passage of the storm.
Ms. Ryan also said that the CWSA is also addressing a broken pipe in the Rose Hall Community, which is causing disruptions to a number of villages on the Leeward side of the country. The problem was rectified.
