November 5th was commemorated all around the world, as “World Tsunami Awareness Day” (WTAD). It was done for the first time to raise public awareness of the deadly threat posed by tunamis, and to share innovative approaches to reducing risks.


The UN General Assembly designated 5th November as the annual day for spotlighting tsunami risks. The worldwide event is supported by the Government of Japan, and is used as an opportunity to showcase good practices related to tsunamis.
