Young people in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines who wish to purchase alcohol, will not be allowed to do so, unless an identification card is presented.

Word of this came from Ms. Nichola Evans, Director of the National Commission on Crime Prevention (NCCP), during a panel discussion held during the week of 16th - 22nd April, at the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Community College.

During the panel discussion, Ms. Evans said that persons who are caught selling intoxicating liquor to students will be fined, imprisoned, and even have their liquor license revoked.

Ms. Evans also said that the aim of the NCCP is to target students in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, who are consuming alcohol, and added that it is the responsibility of businesses to request the identification of students who purchase alcohol at supermarkets.

Alcohol use among the youth in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines was one of the areas highlighted during the discussions, centered around the Liquor License Act of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
