The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO), has been informed of ‘increased activities’ at the Kick ‘em Jenny submarine volcano, located north of Grenada (12.18°N, 61.38°W).

The National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA), of Grenada, continues to collaborate with the Seismic Research Centre (SRC), University of the West Indies, to monitor activities at the Kick em’ Jenny volcano. The SRC indicated that there was an eruption on the evening of Saturday 29th April, which was felt in some parts of Grenada.

The Government of Grenada, through the NaDMA, has therefore imposed a 5 km (3.1 miles), exclusion zone around Kick ‘em Jenny. All mariners are asked to strictly observe this restriction and to continue to monitor releases from the Government of Grenada, NEMO, and the SRC.

Currently there is NO Tsunami threat for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines or the region, and these activities are in no way related to our La Soufriere volcano.

Residents in the Southern Grenadines are asked to continue to monitor, and mariners are asked to strictly observe the exclusion zone.

The National Emergency Management Organisaton will continue to update the general public on activities at the Kick ‘em Jenny submarine volcano.

Please be reminded that the official advisories on Kick ‘em Jenny are under the jurisdiction of the Government of Grenada through the National Disaster Management Agency.
