The Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is in the process of implementing a number of digital transformation initiatives across the various ministries and departments that will enhance the daily operations and improve the services offered.

Some of these initiatives rely heavily on the IT/telecommunication infrastructure being resilient and reliable to ensure success. Therefore, given the critical role that telecommunications play in coordinating disaster response efforts, enhancing the safety of citizens, and maintaining essential services, it is crucial that a well-defined plan is developed to address potential telecommunication issues in times of national emergencies or disasters.

The Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is in the process of developing a National Emergency Telecommunication plan for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. As a result, a consultation for the development of the National Emergency Telecommunications Plan (NETP) was held on Tuesday, 12 November, 2023 at NEMO’s Conference Room from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The consultation was conducted by the International Telecommunications Union.
