At 6.00am, the MET Office issued its 2nd advisory on Tropical Depression Five. The MET Office has informed that a tropical storm-watch is still in effect for St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and tropical storm conditions are likely to affect SVG within 36 hours.

At 5am this morning, the center of Tropical Depression Five was located near Latitude 12.8N, Longitude, 52.6W. Maximum sustained winds are at 35 mph or 55km/h. The system is moving to the west north-west at 21 mph.

On its present track and forecast, the center of the system is expected to pass north of SVG on Friday morning.

All residents are urged to activate their disaster response plans and to heighten preparation for the possibility of adverse impact by the weather system.

At 2.pm today, NEMO will hold a meeting of the National Emergency Council during which time it is expected that the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will be activated to coordinate the national response to this threat.

Once again, SVG is under a Tropical Storm Watch. It is forecast that the system will begin to affect the country by Friday morning.

Residents in SVG should be prepared to act quickly as the storm watch may be upgraded to a storm warning at short notice.
