The Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) Unit is a dedicated team of professionals including a coordinator, trained counsellors, and support staff who believe that a healthy, motivated workforce is the foundation of any successful organization. We are committed to enhancing the well-being and productivity of public service employees by providing free, confidential support for both personal and work-related challenges. Our unit serves as a vital bridge between employees and the resources they need to navigate life's uncertainties.

Mission
To create an enabling environment to support the productivity and development of the Public Service by promoting a culture of health and well-being for public service employees and their families, through high quality counseling and guidance services.

Vision
To be the catalyst that drives a healthy, sustainable and high-performance public service.

Policy Objective
To foster and maintain the well-being and productivity of employees by providing confidential assistance or short-term counseling to those who are experiencing personal or work-related problems.

Value Statement
The Value Statement of the Unit is “to be a caring organization that respects the dignity and holistic well being of all our clients”.

Our approach is built on several core pillars:

Confidentiality – The EAP Unit holds this as the Apex of all the core values. Every counselor and unit staff will assume the responsibility of maintaining in strictest confidence the identity, and information of every client accessing the service.

Reliability – The EAP Unit will be seen as dependable; holding steadfast to the vision and mission of the program. This will guarantee sustainability of high-quality service standards.

Compassion – At the heart of the EAP is the ability to show genuine concern, offer empathy and create a space that is considered safe and genuine. The EAP Unit is a passionate team that shows genuine care for employees, their families, our community and the environment.

Trustworthiness – It is the belief that the success of the program depends highly on the ability of clients to trust the process. As such it is encouraged that every person accessing the service be open-minded and fosters an attitude of hope.

Teamwork – ‘Teamwork makes the dream work’, this is the mantra of the EAP Unit. There is big focus on building a team spirit, between office staff, counselors and other ministry stakeholders.

Respect – At the EAP Unit, we respect, value and support all people. We take into consideration the differences in age, gender, religious and political affiliations; we are also mindful of role differentiation and work towards the promotion of tolerance and acceptance of such difference.

Integrity – We act with professionalism and honesty at all times; in everything we do. Each team member promotes the uplifting of the program’s vision, mission and objectives.

Dignity of Humanity – There is no discrimination within the program. All are seen as equal and the service is offered to meet every person at the point of their needs.

We contribute to a healthier work environment by assisting individuals with personal issues and consulting with supervisors on organizational concerns. We strive to empower public servants through:

  • Individual & Group Counseling: Addressing issues such as stress, grief, family challenges, and mental health.
  • Specialized Training/Education: Offering workshops and preventative education on problem-solving and coping mechanisms.
  • Referral Services: Connecting you with legal, financial, or long-term medical specialists and other support services when needed.

At the EAP Unit, we believe that "no challenge is too big or too small to get help for". We are here to ensure you never have to face life's hurdles alone.
