Acting Commissioner of the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) Trevor Bailey has announced that newly appointed Assistant Commissioner of Police Brenton Smith will assume responsibility for crime.
ACP Smith will provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Force's crime-fighting efforts, working closely with the Deputy Commissioner, divisional commanders, the Criminal Investigation Department, the Major Crime Unit, intelligence personnel and other operational units.
His responsibilities will include strengthening coordination, improving accountability for investigations and placing renewed emphasis on gun-related crime and serious violence.
Bailey stressed, however, that crime fighting remains the responsibility of the entire RSVGPF.
"Every commander must lead. Every investigator must investigate thoroughly. Every patrol officer must remain vigilant. Every supervisor must be held accountable," he said.
