The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development/Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (USAID/OFDA) will host a five-day Sub-Regional Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) Management Training course during the period 16th – 20th July, 2018, at the Paradise Beach Hotel Conference Room at Villa.

The Emergency Operations Centre training brings together participants from the National Disaster Response mechanism, government agencies and stakeholders involved in planning, and responding to emergencies and disasters. Participants are drawn from Dominica, Saint Lucia, Grenada, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Kitts and Nevis and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Emergency Operations Centre management provides a centralized coordination and control of an emergency or disaster response, recovery or relief operations when an event has occurred that requires national, regional or international coordination of resources. The main objective of this training course is to expose participants to the discipline of Emergency Operations Centre Management and the standard operating procedures which governs it. The capacity of agencies and personnel expected to operate in the EOC will also be enhanced as they will be better able to perform their specific duties and responsibilities during an emergency operation.

The opening ceremony for the Training Course will be held on Monday, 16th July, at 9:00 a.m.

Additional Information:

The complexity of emergency management, along with the demands to provide a better response to crisis situations, have increased the need for a regulated and flexible system, one that is capable of managing information from the various scenarios in order to improve decision-making processes. Emergency Operations Centre Management constitutes an effective system which facilitates inter-sectoral and inter-agency coordination. It also unifies criteria and sets common objectives which will turn into joint, combined and sustained actions using management process principles.

The EOC management course outlines structures, functional relationships, methods, procedures and protocols of inter-sectoral and inter-agency nature (national, departmental, ministerial) to effectively manage emergency situations.
