The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO), in collaboration with the Soufriere Monitoring Unit (SMU) and the University of the West Indies, Seismic Research Center (UWI SRC), Volcano-ready Communities Project, SVG; invites all residents of Sandy Bay and Georgetown to community meetings on Tuesday 7th and Thursday 9th May, respectively, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. each day.
The Georgetown meeting would take place at the 'Y' Gap leading to the Langley Park Primary School; and the Sandy Bay meeting would take place at the gap leading to the Sandy Bay Police Station (Miller Junction).
The purpose of the meetings is to:
- Discuss evacuation plans for Georgetown and Sandy Bay communities the event of a Volcanic Eruption.
- To sensitise members of the Georgetown and Sandy Bay communities about the Tradewinds exercise 2019.
- To look at the procedure for the volunteers to participate in the Tradewinds exercise 2019.
Residents are asked to make a special effort to attend the meetings.
